Festival participants from Austria – Professor of Piano, University of Arts Berlin, Gottlieb Wallisch
Gottlieb Wallisch is in the Viennese piano tradition, but even more he continues to do so. Parallel to his characteristic “clear, but never cold” interpretations of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert, Wallisch feels passionately for his audience and himself new or unknown compositions.
At the age of six he becomes the youngest student in the talented class of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. This is followed by piano studies in Vienna, Berlin and Paris with Heinz Medjimorec, Pascal Devoyon, Oleg Maisenberg and Jacques Rouvier. The 1st prize at the Stravinsky Awards (Illinois/USA) and a concert under the direction of Yehudi Menuhin are the starting signal for Wallisch`s international career. In addition to his concerts in the great halls of the world and numerous recordings, he continues to pass on his artistic knowledge as a professor at the Berlin University of Arts.
