Moscow Museum of Modern Art will host art projects of Russian and international authors as part of the IX Moscow International Biennale “Fashion and Style in Photography 2015”.

Mary Reid Kelley is a young American artist, a Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellow. In her art, she combines painting and drawing, which she has learned at Yale University, with performance, theater, sculpture and literature. Black and white video stories by Mary Reid Kelley are animated, three-dimensional, talking pictures, ironically playing up the aesthetics of cubism, expressionism and surrealism.

The artist explores the status of women and their struggle for freedom and equality. She puts her stories in the form of poems full of sarcastic humor. She pays attention to historical periods, marked by deep political, social, economic and cultural changes, i.e. the World War I and the French Revolution.
Mary Reid Kelley creates her artworks by herself. She is a script writer, a costume and set designer, and a cameraman. Her husband Patrick Kelley is an expert in cinema and digital processing. The cast is the artist and her family members.

The project is presented by Neuer Kunstverein Wien and Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, Los Angeles With support of Austrian Cultural Forum in Moscow
