“Shalom” means peace — the title and the main theme of this exhibition are as simple as they are important, especially in the world once again wired by tension.

Dvora Barzilai’s idea of peace in general, and her approach to the subject in this exhibition in particular, are based on her experience as a citizen of two countries: Israel and Austria.

Her profound analysis is informed by her own life and beliefs.

Dvora Barzilai’s works are recognisable by the artist’s frequent use of biblical texts on the one hand, and by her imagery, compositions and use of different media on the other — her works reflect the unique perspective of the artist connecting the Israeli and the Austrian art scenes.

Shalom offers a personal and moving comment on the idea of peace.
