“The Song of the Desert”
A collaboration of: ZENTAURUS artists’ group, Exhibition centre of the St. Petersburg Artists’ Association, Austrian Cultural Forum Moscow
With support of: Federal State Steiermark, Raiffeisen Bank
This poetic-artistic installation marks the conclusion of a series of three installations in total by the ZENTAURUS artists’ group in Russia. As with the previous two projects (“Time and Nothing”, Irkutsk 2009; “Beauty and Sorrow”, Irkutsk 2011) the installation once again features a project that addresses certain basic perceptions in human life through the interplay between different art forms.
The desert is a metaphor for the soul with its vastness, its secrets, its chasms and demons, but also its closeness to the transcendental. The interaction between painting, sculpture, poetry, photography and music retraces the stirrings of the soul, with particular emphasis here on music and notation.
The project is an event staged as part of the twinning partnership between Graz and St. Petersburg.
Participating artists: Erwin König, Graz (idea, project management, poetry, paintings); Ludmila Wolf, Nürnberg (photography, Russian adaptation); Valentin Reshikov, St.Petersburg (sculpture)
