Ars Electronica Animation Festival in Kaliningrad
On Oct. 28, 29 and 30, the Baltic branch of the National Center for Contemporary Arts, with support from the Austrian Cultural Forum, will host the Ars Electronica Animation festival in Kaliningrad. The festival presents the best films in the sphere of technological art and computer animation.
The Ars Electronica Festival (Linz, Austria) is a world-renowned forum for art, science and technology, and it focuses on both independent artistic development and joint creative work between artists, scientists and engineers.
One key part of the festival is the Prix Ars Electronica Animation Festival, where this year viewers will see nominated films and prize winners in the field of computer animation for 2011 and 2012 from more than 60 countries.
Traditionally, the Ars Electronica Festival presents not only the most interesting works that expand our understanding of film and video art, but also offers a special education program each year. As part of the program, invited artists and art theorists hold seminars and lectures on the perception, interpretation and creation of a new screen culture.
This year, in parallel with the display of videos, Kaliningrad residents will also have the chance to meet with representatives of the Ars Electronica Festival, attend lectures and presentations by participating award-winning artists, and even take part in a question-and-answer session with members of the jury for the animation category.
