The retrospective “Austria at the Oscars” is being held as part of the 2nd Festival of German-speaking countries in St. Petersburg - DACH_FEST 2020. The aim of the festival is to introduce the St. Petersburg citizens to the cultural diversity of the four German-speaking countries of Europe: Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. National cinema is an integral and authentic part of culture. During the Retrospective "Austria at the Oscars" you can see 4 famous Austrian films that could be on the short list of the nomination for "Best Foreign Language Film" of the American Film Academy. Two of these films became the honorary Oscars: “The Counterfeiters” and “The Love” by an iconic Austrian film classic Michael Haneke.
